I cannot recommend Dr Amy enough, especially for handling any kind of oral ties. The initial assessment was extremely thorough and Dr Amy made herself available for any and all questions that arose afterwards. We ended up not having our child’s ties released so I can’t speak to the release procedure and aftercare, but the fact that we did not feel pressured into the procedure and felt comfortable making the decision we did says volumes about this practice! So many places with release ties without proper reason/assessment, and that is NOT this practice.

Amy Weis, DDS

Dr. Amy’s passion for helping babies with feeding challenges began after struggling to breastfeed her own daughter due to a tongue tie. After experiencing first-hand the life-changing effects from having her daughter’s tongue and lip ties released, Dr. Amy refocused her career to help other moms and babies.

Dr. Amy exclusively focuses on tongue tie releases and tethered oral tissues, with an emphasis on infant feeding. She has completed Laser Safety Training with the American Laser Study Club.

Jill Johnston, OTD, OTR/L

Jill is an occupational therapist specializing in infant feeding and development associated with tongue ties. She has specialty training in TummyTime! Method and oral motor therapy to support the frenecotmy process. As a mom of two little ones with ties, she is passionate about helping families find ease and comfort with feeding. She believes that the team approach is an integral part in achieving optimal results and is proud to be a part of the Vibrant Beginnings team!

Kelsey Wendland, MS, CCC SLP

Kelsey is an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist, Myofunctional Therapist and Certified Lactation Counselor with advanced training in oral muscle anatomy, posture, and coordination.

Kelsey founded Little Arbor Speech Therapy to specialize in treating the root causes of breathing, swallowing, sleeping and speech challenges through a myofunctional therapy approach. She strives to create a safe space for patients to learn and grow at their own pace and collaborates with other professionals along the way to get the best possible therapy outcomes.

Kelsey earned her master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from South Carolina State University. She spent the first 8 years of her career working in Chicago, IL for the Early Intervention system, servicing children from birth through three years of age. After feeling like she wasn’t getting to the root cause of her patient’s difficulties, Kelsey spent her time seeking out courses to learn about orofacial myofunctional therapy, tethered oral tissues, breathing and sleeping disturbances and feeding challenges. She believes in lifelong learning and enjoys attending conferences and new courses to stay up-to-date on new research and therapy techniques. In her spare time, she enjoys staying active, attending local sporting events, trying new restaurants, and exploring her new home state of North Carolina!

Basic Extractions

Basic extractions are designed to remove teeth that are impacted, decayed, or broken and are not restorable. This type of extraction typically involves only the local anesthetic and minimal instrumentation, making the process short and straightforward.

What is the tooth extraction recovery process like?

The tooth extraction recovery process varies depending on the complexity of the extraction. Here is what to expect:

After removing the tooth, a blood clot may form in the socket to protect the exposed bone and nerve endings.
